SPONSORS and CONTRIBUTORS While DFL hosts the world's greatest scuba event, a week-long, life-affirming celebration of divers, diving and camaraderie, its principal mission is raising funds. A substantial portion of the money donated to charity is raised by DFL's annual "Scuba Raffle and Auction." Donations from generous corporations, small businesses and individuals are the mainstays of this event. DFL reaches out to the entire community and the community replies with donations ranging from T-shirts and baseball caps, to dive gear; from airline tickets to week long dive trips. During the week, raffle tickets are sold for the broad appeal items such as dive gear and airline tickets while silent bidding builds for trip packages such as a live-aboard in Papua, NG or a high profile strobe for the dedicated u/w photographer. All of this culminates in "Raffle Night" during which tickets are drawn and silent auction results are announced with last-minute bidders hovering to get in their bids at closing. Other specialty items such as signed celebrity photos are live-auctioned in a fast paced flurry of bids from the floor. And you thought "The Antiques Road Show" was fun.
