A Unique History
Coral Eye began in 2009 when four young marine biologists envisioned creating a collaborative marine research station where universities, scientists, and students could study tropical marine ecosystems in the field. In 2013, the addition of a professional dive center allowed the property to welcome guests, creating an innovative concept that combines tourism with conservation. Revenue generated from the resort supports marine research, environmental restoration projects, scholarships for students, and local community initiatives. In 2022, Coral Eye partnered with the renowned Siladen Resort & Spa, expanding guest amenities while preserving its original mission of education, conservation, and sustainable tourism.
Beach Pavilion
At the heart of the resort, the Beach Pavilion welcomes guests into an inviting space by the sea. With its open veranda and gentle seaside setting, it has become Coral Eye’s center for leisure and connection.
Exceptional Diving
The reefs surrounding Bangka Island are considered among the finest in Indonesia. Guests have access to more than 50 dive sites, many just a short boat ride from the resort. The area is famous for vibrant soft coral gardens, dramatic volcanic pinnacles, healthy hard coral reefs, walls, mangroves, and outstanding macro photography opportunities. Divers regularly encounter pygmy seahorses, frogfish, nudibranchs, leaf fish, reef sharks, turtles, schools of reef fish, and countless other marine species. Whether you're a newly certified diver or an experienced underwater photographer, Bangka offers exceptional visibility, warm tropical waters, and extraordinary biodiversity.
Dining, Pool & Resort Amenities
At the center of the resort is the beautiful Beach Pavilion, an open-air gathering place overlooking the ocean. The beachfront restaurant serves a blend of Indonesian and international cuisine prepared with fresh local ingredients, while the adjoining lounge bar is the perfect place to relax with a tropical drink after a day of diving. Guests can also enjoy the resort's elegant infinity swimming pool, surrounded by comfortable loungers and lush tropical landscaping, creating a peaceful setting to unwind while overlooking the beach and turquoise waters.
The Coral Eye Restaurant in the Beach Pavilion offers both intimate private tables and friendly communal tables, in line with the Coral Eye philosophy of shared experiences. The open kitchen faces the dining area, creating a warm atmosphere as our chefs prepare each meal.
Our lounge bar has a full cocktail menu, featuring many classic favourites as well as some signature cocktails. We serve a selection of local and imported beers and wines.
Activities for Non-Divers
The absence of roads on Bangka Island make it the perfect place to disconnect.
Bangka Island invites you to slow down and reconnect with the wild. It’s a place where nature still leads, and time moves with the tides.
As you explore, keep an eye out for parrots in the treetops, tarsiers hiding in the branches, cuscus climbing quietly, and monitor lizards crossing your path.
Kayaks and SUP are available for guests to use, allowing free exploration of the coastline or nearby coves.
The resort will work you to organize tours to the Minahasan Highlands, as well as to Tangkoko National Reserve, which is convenient to visit from Coral Eye because of its location. Weather permitting, we take guests by boat directly to the national park, where the ranger is waiting for them. Even if we need to use a car, it is still a relatively short trip that can be done in an afternoon. Coral Eye also organises Mangrove Kayaking, SUP tours and hiking.
Dining at the Coral Eye
We use the freshest locally sourced ingredients to create a seasonal à la carte menu that blends Indonesian flavors with Mediterranean culinary traditions. Each dish is thoughtfully prepared to offer a home-cooked feel with a refined touch.
Full board accommodation includes three meals per day and a snack during the afternoon. Drinking water, biscuits, fruit, coffee and tea are available all day long at the bar.
